The Meeting Table

Due to Madonna's extensive work in charities, I thought that Obama and Madonna might meet to discuss not only charity organisations, but how Madonna and Obama can increase awareness about third world countries and underpriviledge people. Thus I intended my design to express a desire for peace and equality. I was inspired by bird wings and wanted to create a single fluid shape. A pop up computer screen in the middle of them would enable them to discuss world affairs or to demonstrate their ideas more clearly.

Draft: Obama Space

My idea is rooted in Obama's desk (see above), as I tried to suggest how his down-to-earth nature and interest in equality (use of circular table) gains popularity and thus power. His viewpoint above the office however, shows the power he has in overseeing everything. The overall shape was inspired by the image of a hand holding a ball, signifying his power but also justice. Although the shape beneath the glass sphere somewhat resembles a wave, this was the inspiration.

Draft:Madonna Space

My initial idea was to have a conglomeration of abstract shapes, to express the notion that since she is continually changing, her true personality is unknown. The ambiguity of her personality in the public eye creates a sense of fantasy. I was intially inspired by Guggenheim Bilbao. However I found it hard to create abstract shapes with no real meaning or purpose, hence I started with the idea of clouds. Clouds, like Madonna, can constantly mould into anything, and it is their secret to our relentless curiosity and facinaion. Clouds also, as mentioned, assentuate the idea of the 'fantasy,' the fact that her life - public and private, appear as a fantasy to the public.
